In Luke chapter 15 there is a parable that Jesus told about a shepherd who owns 100 sheep. When one of them goes astray and gets lost, he doesn't just shrug it off and focus on the 99 that are safe. Instead, he leaves the 99 in the open country and goes on a relentless search for the single missing sheep. When he finally finds it, he doesn't punish it. Instead, he joyfully places it on his shoulders, carries it home, and invites his friends and neighbors to celebrate with him.

After telling the parable Jesus says something interesting.

"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." Luke 15:7

" Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2 :6-7
